It is not a big deal for people who just want to get an engraved coin, or try coin engraving. But it matters when you do personalized service or online coins selling. People in Reddit has shared his experience online for the "fake" coin.
(details please check in Reddit)

How to Engrave Coins?
Three ways for coin engraving: hand engraving, chemical etching and laser engraving. Hand engraivng suits for soft material engraving like leather, and large-scale carving process, while chemical etching is not recommend if you have better choice.
For laser engraving, the first thing you need to do is to get a desktop laser engraver, 20W can be enough for newbies to do precise engraving or photo laser engraving. But if you would like to try deep laser engraving or laser cutting, choose one with 50W or 60W laser engraver machine.
If you already have one, the rest is easy to operate. Prepare the laser files or your own designs, and engrave with right settings. If you do surface engraving, set 50~60% power and 1000-1500mm/s.
